Would you want your loved one to be in a facility that makes fraudulent claims for Medicare reimbursement?
Some long term care facilities - including nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, assisted living facilities - "upcode" care (that is, code care that has a higher reimbursement rate that the care that was given) and perform unnecessry therapy treatments in order to increase Medicare reimbursements.
Life Care Centers of America is now being investigated for such fraud. Evidently, whistleblower employees in Florida and Tennessee reported the activity that is being investigated.
Life Care Centers of America have 200 facilities in 28 states, including Virginia.
