Q The insurance adjuster has offered to pay my medical bills and a "little bit more" for my trouble. Should I settle?
The insurance company knows that the sooner it convinces you to settle your claim, the less money it wil have to pay you. Why? Because you may not know the full extent of your injury until much later. The company knows - and is counting on your NOT knowing - that once you settle the claim, you cannot go back and ask for more money because you are really injured worse than you thought. Adjusters are taught to settle claims as quickly as possible so you cannot reopen your claim if your condition gets worse.
