How to Find Whether Your Doctor Has Ever Had a Judgment Entered Against Her Or Settled A Claim

Virginia Board of Medicine Practitioner Information database has information on over 30,000 medical doctors, podiatrists, and osteopaths licensed in Virginia.
Although basic information is provided by the Board of Medicine, other information is required to be self reported by the health care provider, including felony convictions and whether they have every settled malpractice actions or had judgment entered against them. (Other optional information that may be included has to do with areas of practice and other administrative information such as location and office hours.)
The Board of Medicine does not actively "police" the contents of the practitioner's information and takes no responsibility for any omissions, although it does do random audits of the contents.
The site a place to start when looking for some information on the doctor's record, but understand it is not the complete picture.
